It's the last day of 16 Days of Activism and International Human Rights Day. In some countries around the world women suffer oppression and violations of their human rights simply because they are born female. In Iran, women have been murdered simply for showing their hair. In Afghanistan, they are not allowed to have a secondary education, to show their skin, visit parks or for their voices be heard in public. In Iraq, currently parliament is debating lowering the age you can get married from 18 to 9. In Libya, there are plans for compulsory veiling for women and girls from age 9.

The ‘Big Splash’ is a moment to think about these human rights violations and what women and girls have to tolerate around the world simply because of the sex they are were born.
